The greatest threat to farming and indeed humanity is Global Warming.
As well as seeding the local food movement we are constantly striving to reduce our Carbon Footprint:
• All the products we sell at the Comox Valley Farmers Market are delivered by e-bicycle!
• All field work is done by hand.
• We have made numerous updates to the old farm house for energy efficiency, such as installing a heat pump and insulating walls and ceilings.
• We plant a few trees every year around the farm.
• We only use half of our land with the rest being trees.
• We have taken steps to heavily reduce our use of one-way plastic.
Our biggest footprint is generating enough on-farm/local fertility and mulch. We are always looking to support research into innovations and are always welcome to new ideas and dialogue. We are far from perfect but trying to progress…
